All profits from the lodge go to helping St. Kizito Rubuguri Primary School. The school has many needs, and your support will, among other things, help purchase books for the library, school supplies for children, hygiene supplies and uniforms for sports teams.
If you are vacationing in Bwindi and have a desire to volunteer at or visit a school, we can assist you. You can watch student performances including a youth football or volleyball match. You can interact with students in the classroom. Our team can help you get to know the community while developing an appreciation of life in a rural, mountainous part of Africa. You can also attend Mass at a Catholic church. If you have as little as one or two free hours during your stay, let us help you spend it.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley. The hillsides which are mist-covered are sheltered by one of the ancient and very biologically varied rainforests in Uganda that dates back to more than 25,000 years, comprising of about 400 varied plant species. More notably, this “impenetrable forest” in addition protects an predictable 320 population of mountain gorillas – approximately half of the population in the world, among which are a number of habituated groups, that can be tracked by visitors.Bwindi is habitat to more than half the world’s population of Mountain Gorillas.
The Golden monkey is one of Uganda’s 20 primate species. It is found in Mgahinga Gorilla National park which is part of the Virunga Mountains where it is endemic. Compared with other monkey species, the golden monkeys are gorgeous in appearance. They have bright coloured fur with long golden hair mixed with orange.
Golden monkey tracking is not as exhausting as gorilla tracking because the monkeys do not build new nests everyday so there is no need for pre-trackers to trace them every morning.
